CipherLend computes loan eligibility on financial data that stays encrypted end-to-end — salary, income, debt and savings are never readable by the protocol, the lender, or anyone but you. Only the decision comes back: eligible or not, how much, and at what tier.
Lending needs computation on private numbers — not just a proof.
A real underwriting decision depends on how several private figures relate to each other at once: debt against income, savings against risk, credit against rate. Fully Homomorphic Encryption is the only primitive that lets a smart contract run that arithmetic directly on encrypted inputs and emit only the conclusion.
Plaintext lending apps
Your salary, debt and savings sit in a database in the clear. One breach, one subpoena, one insider — and your entire financial picture is exposed.
Zero-knowledge proofs alone
ZK proves a single static claim ("income > $50k") against a fixed threshold. Lending eligibility needs live arithmetic across five interacting variables per application — that requires computation, not just a proof of a pre-set condition.
CipherLend on FHEVM
Every value stays ciphertext from your browser to contract storage. The contract itself adds, multiplies and compares encrypted numbers — DTI ratio, risk tier, loan cap — without ever decrypting them.
This is only practical with FHE. A plaintext contract would expose every applicant's finances to the chain. An off-chain oracle would just relocate the trust problem. FHEVM lets the eligibility model run publicly, verifiably, and confidentially, all at once.
Built for a confidential lending flow, end to end.
Client-side encryption
Every field is encrypted in your browser via the Zama Relayer SDK before a single byte reaches the network.
Confidential computation
Debt-to-income, risk tier, loan cap and interest tier are computed on-chain over ciphertexts using FHEVM's encrypted arithmetic.
Selective disclosure
You choose which lender, if any, gets permission to decrypt your decision output — never your raw financial inputs.
Self-custodied data
There is no backend database. Your encrypted profile lives only in contract storage, gated by on-chain access control.
Verifiable fairness
The eligibility model is public Solidity code — anyone can audit exactly how decisions are made, even though the inputs stay private.
One wallet, instant decision
Connect, enter your numbers, and get an eligibility result in the time it takes for two transactions to confirm.
Questions, answered plainly.
No. Salary, income, debt, savings and your credit-score estimate are encrypted in your browser before they're submitted. The smart contract computes on ciphertexts and only your wallet can decrypt your own inputs.
Only what you explicitly authorize: eligibility (yes/no), maximum loan amount, risk category, and interest tier. They never receive access to the underlying profile ciphertexts.
A normal database decrypts data to compute on it — creating a moment where plaintext exists server-side. FHEVM computes directly on ciphertexts, so no decryption ever happens during the eligibility calculation itself.
The current deployment targets Ethereum Sepolia testnet using Zama's FHEVM coprocessor, Gateway and Relayer infrastructure.
Yes. You can revoke a lender's authorization at any time, which stops them from being granted access to any future recomputed decision.
Yes — the Solidity source implementing the debt-to-income thresholds, risk tiering and loan-cap logic is open and auditable. Only your inputs are private, not the rules.
